Atsuko, originally from Tokyo, Japan, moved to Big Island in 2015 with a determined passion to learn hula, traditional Hawaiian dance.

In 2019, she graduated Hawaii Community College in Hilo, where she majored Hawaiian Studies. There, she was inspired by the healing power of lāʻau lapaʻau (Hawaiian herbal medicine).

In the following year, she met Robin Williams, the owner of Ola Tropical Apothecary which provides tropical plant-based body and skin care products, all made in Hilo. Together they created Ola Tropical Apothecary & Spa, the first flagship shop of Ola and a spa that offers its signature massage and facial treatments.

Ola Tropical Apothecary & Spa opened in the heart of downtown Hilo in May 2021.
